Can you believe we’re 1 year old today? It feels like only a minute ago Mazillo was just an idea, and now we’re all grown up and sharing our love for sustainable skincare with the world.
It’s been a whirlwind of a year, so let’s look back at how two girls built a skincare business that, well, cares.
It starts with heart & home
Our story starts in our homeland, Bulgaria, surrounded by family, friends, and friends who feel like family.
In 1996 two little girls – Mihaela and Yoana - met and instantly became inseparable. That’s us, the Mazillo girls. We spent our childhoods hearing our grandmothers talk of the great power of natural ingredients and watched them whip up remedies at home.
We travelled, studied, and lived abroad, but a part of our hearts always stayed in our beautiful homeland. This is when the dream started – to share our heritage with the rest of the world.
Fast forward a few decades, and that dream became a reality. In December 2021, after a year and a half in the making, our business was born into the world.
5 skincare products inspired by folklore, led by nature, and informed by science. It was a dream come true.
But that was only the very start. 
We spread the news
Our products have made it to the pages of some of our favourite magazines and sites.
In May, our bestselling face mask was featured in the Queen Jubilee issue of Vanity Fair.
Then the magic mask featured in Glamour too – pinch-me moment!
The following month our story was in The Eco News.
We sat down with Estila too, to chat about our mission, vision, and favourite products.
The Face Mask made yet another appearance, this time in Luxuria Lifestyle London.
Followed by a feature in The C Word Mag, where we talked about being a women-owned business and the challenges we’re facing with keeping every aspect of our business in-house.
Party season began in November when we featured in The Wedding Edition’s winter lust list.
That’s not the only reason to celebrate - we were also spotted in Baba’s Christmas gift guide, Frow Magazine’s Guide’s ultimate Christmas shopping guide, and Josie’s (@fashionmumblr) Small Business Christmas gift guide.
We went out & about
While all the glossy mags and interviews were great, what we loved more than anything is seeing all your gorgeous faces in real life.
We kicked off July with London’s Just V Show, delivering an expert talk on our favourite topic: sustainable skincare!
In October, we met many of you at London’s The Sustainability Show. It was so inspiring to talk to like-minded people.
London, you just couldn’t get rid of us, could you?
We got in the festive mood at the Spirit of Christmas Fair in London Olympia.
Then it was time for London pop-up number 4 at the ever-so-lovely John Lewis & Partners Canary Wharf, and the Conscious Christmas Market in St. John’s Wood.
And now you’ll find us at The Winter Workshop - a one-stop shop for sustainable gifting, workshops, and events at Coal Drop’s Yard in King’s Cross (December 3rd - 20th of December) - ‘tis the season for shiny new faces, so it would be great to see you there!
We made friends (lots of 'em!)
We started as just two girls, but now we’ve welcomed so many of you into the Mazillo family.

And we gave back
Throughout the whole journey, we never strayed from our initial dream.
Mazillo exists because of our deep respect for our older generations and our love for our homeland, so we had to give back.
We’re proud to be donating 1% of our proceeds to Calm Life Foundation Bulgaria which supports vulnerable elderly people in Bulgaria by providing care in the comfort of their own homes.
We couldn’t have done any of it without you!
Of course, we wouldn’t be where we are without all of you standing by our side.
We won’t lie to you, running our business is hard, especially as we do everything in-house. From sourcing all our ingredients locally, formulating, manufacturing, and packaging, to our marketing, ALL whilst making sure we’re ethical and sustainable every step of the way.
But we do it all for YOU and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s been one hell of a year, but we’re just getting started.
