Orpheus flower or Resurrection plant is a unique plant which can only be found in the Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria. Legend says when the mythical hero Orpheus lost his wife Eurydice, an immortal flower was born from the tears he shed upon the Rhodope mountains. The Orpheus flower is believed to have existed before the Ice Age and has survived over 20 million years thanks to its remarkable ability to endure extremely long periods without water. As a result, the Orpheus flower stem cells have a proven skin lifting effect, and also decrease pigmentation while hydrating and making the skin more radiant. They also contain an active component named myconoside, which stimulates collagen synthesis and elastin.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that naturally occurs in many fruits like plumps or bananas. Anhydroxylitol and xylitylglucoside are also plant-derived humectants. This powerful trio of ingredients reinforces the skin’s barrier function through stimulating the synthesis of ceramides, optimises water reserves by boosting the formation of hyaluronic acid and maximises water circulation within the epidermis. Tomato seed oil is a vegetable oil with beautiful red-orange color which is characterised by its richness in antioxidants, including alpha and beta carotenoids, phytosterols, as well as lycopene. It is its irreplaceable natural composition that plays a key role in preventing premature cell aging and revitalises the skin. Tomato seed oil is also suitable for skin prone to oiliness. It has the ability to control sebum secretion by tightening the pores. Large amounts of lycopene make it ideal for treating hyperpigmentation, pigment spots or sunburned skin. Milk thistle is the only known source of a substance called Silymarim. It maintains the healthy structure of skin cells and protects them from destruction while helping block harmful UV rays. In fact, Bulgaria is one of the very few countries in the world where significant quantities of milk thistle are grown, mainly for medicinal use. Milk thistle oil has extremely strong anti-aging effects – it makes the skin supple and firm and smoothes small wrinkles. Mursalski, or Shepherd’s tea, is a herbaceous plant that grows exclusively in Bulgaria, in the Pirin Mountains at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level thanks to the unique climate and soil in the region. Mursalki tea is a very unique plant which, incredibly, contains around 300 components. It is very rich in antioxidants of natural origin, nicotinic acid, vitamin A, E, C and many others. The Mursalski tea water we use in our Regenerate+Protect Essence Toner has a characteristic mild aroma with mysterious hints of honey. It is a powerful antioxidant and successfully fights the signs of aging. It also protects the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals and smooths wrinkles. Mursalski tea water has a great cleansing effect and takes excellent care of oily skin.

Cucumber water has great balancing properties and reduces skin redness or dryness. Clary Sage Water is naturally a more gentle way to use the many beneficial properties of this herb. The water we use in our products is made from the blossom of freshly picked wild growing clary sage and contains an ester called linalyl acetate which helps to reduce inflammation, regulates oil production of the skin and has antimicrobial properties. Local people are also using clary sage water as a relaxant due to its natural calming effect on the nervous system when smelled or sprayed on bedding.

The Chamomile water we use in our products is made out of wild freshly harvested chamomile blossom. It has a pleasant fresh aroma and an excellent toning effect, especially on sensitive and dry skin. Chamomile water soothes redness and inflammation, and helps skin regeneration. It also has a mild brightening effect and therefore can help reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. Apart from its benefits for the skin, locally, chamomile water has been also used as a mouthwash while inhalations of the herb is a common way of dealing with colds.

Lemon Balm water, or Melissa water, improves skin conditions associated with irritations and allergies. It stimulates microcirculation in the skin and has refreshing and rejuvenating properties. Lemon Balm water is a disinfectant and relaxant. The plant grows in bushes, rare forests, along gardens and fences everywhere in Bulgaria. Usually the whole upper part or just the leaves of the lemon balm are used, depending on the purpose. The Lemon Balm water we use in our Replenishing Moisturiser is made out of the leaves and the stems of the plant so as to capture all its beneficial properties.

Immortelle water is steam distilled from the bright yellow flowers of the Immortelle plant. The water has a gentle earthy aroma which is similar to the tea/honey-like scent of the Immortelle oil, but is more delicate and softer. Immortelle water has excellent anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties. It also boosts collagen production, tones and moisturises the skin.

Linden is a highly aromatic herb well known in Bulgaria and especially in the Stara Zagora region. It is best known for its soothing and even enchanting effects. It is a symbol of the town, also called 'the town of linden'. We have only used linden blossoms water obtained from linden trees growing on the northern slopes of Sredna Gora and on the southern slopes of Stara Planina, away from the urban environment, in their pure natural form. Linden blossoms water is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive. It has great moisturising properties and nourishes, refreshes and softens the skin. It strengthens the skin, improves its elasticity, smooths fine lines and effectively fights dark circles.

Rose water is another ingredient we use in our Purify+Nourish Face Mask which is derived from the worldwide famous Bulgarian rose and it contains about 5-10% rose oil. It is a by-product of rose oil extraction and is a natural antiseptic as well as a regulator of sebum production. It is therefore suitable for both dry and oily skin. It relieves skin irritations and itching. Bulgarian Rose water is effective for removing puffiness and redness, including relieving symptoms of eczema and rosacea. Immortelle oil is one of the most valuable and rare oils in aromatherapy. It is grown in only a few places in the world, one of which is here in Bulgaria, and is unsurpassed in its ability to rejuvenate the skin. The unique climate and soil conditions in the Kazanlak Valley in Bulgaria help to grow the best quality lavender oil which we use in our Purify+Nourish Face Mask. Pentylene Glycol is a multifunctional natural ingredient which has skin-conditioning and moisturising properties. It is a bio-sourced component, sustainably made from sugar cane bagasse. Phenylpropanol is also a fully natural compound that is extracted from the essential oil of Cassia, a woody species related to the cinnamon tree. The combination of those two ingredients creates a 100% nature-derived multifunctional blend which serves as a preservative for cosmetic products. It prevents the growth of microbes and is also friendly to the skin and the environment. At the same time, this innovative gentle alternative to petrochemical-based preservatives moisturises and conditions the skin.

Sodium Phytate is the sodium salt of Phytic Acid which acts as a chelating agent and helps stabilise cosmetic formulations. We use in our products Sodium Phytate which has a fully natural origin and is obtained from the phytic acid salt derived from rice bran. The ingredient is considered as the biodegradable alternative for EDTA and works very well with other cosmetic antioxidants.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a gentle emollient and skin-replenishing natural ingredient which is derived from combining coconut oil fatty acids and glycerin. It is mainly used for its moisturising properties but can also function as thickener and enhance the penetration of other skincare ingredients.

Xanthan gum is a natural polysaccharide, a type of sugar, produced by the fermentation of glucose and sucrose. Acacia Senegal Gum is extracted from the sap of sustainably sourced Senegalese Acacia tree. Both ingredients are fully natural thickeners and act to improve the skin feel and texture of our products.

GLYCERIN
Glycerin is a component found naturally in the skin and has great replenishing and restoring properties. The glycerin we use in our products is completely natural and is vegetable derived. Essentially, glycerin helps the skin maintain a healthy look and feel and is great at providing hydration as well as maintaining skin’s moisture levels. The ingredient performs best when in combination with other emollient substances.

Sodium Levulinate is a 100% natural ingredient derived from starch and vegetal inulin while Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of the naturally occurring compound sorbic acid. In fact, sorbic acid is contained in the berries of the rowan tree (Sorbus aucuparia), a type of mountain ash known for its hardiness in cold weather. Those two ingredients have great antimicrobial properties and when used together represent a very effective gentle preservative system which also has a skin conditioning effect.

Sodium gluconate is the sodium salt of gluconic acid. The sodium gluconate we use in our Regenerate+Protect Essence Toner is fully natural and is produced by fermentation of glucose syrop, derived from corn, a renewable raw material. Sodium gluconate is the natural alternative to the synthetic chelating agents EDTA and etidronate which are used to protect cosmetic products from discoloration and rancidity.
